finally brothers
It was a rough morning. One nameless child had a complete meltdown because she doesn't like the color brown. You know how meltdowns go, it's hard to remember exactly how this started based on the reaction that was caused by not backing down (both of us) and discipline (trying to mold her heart and not punish behavior) and stubbornness from parent and child, and trying to prevent the other child from coloring with pen all over the kitchen in the midst. Then you remember the reason, and it's hard to wrap your mind around how not liking the color brown has caused you to be leaving the house an HOUR later than planned.
whatever is true
Not everyone particularly likes plans being foiled. And despite the gorgeous weather, fall colors surrounding us, and a few hours together to enjoy the day, it was looking a little grim there for awhile.
whatever is noble
We were listening to Seeds Family Worship in the car, and I heard this song from Philippians 4:8. I just took it in for myself.
whatever is pure
The parking was crazy as we approached the Botanical Gardens. We were going to circle around and park in a spot we had seen a ways back, when we found a spot directly across from the gardens (Mike is seriously a parallel parking pro).
whatever is right
We had no idea it was the Best of Missouri Farmer's Market at the Gardens this weekend. It was going to be $30 for us to get in, what we thought was a free morning. We stood there for a moment trying to resort plans, when a lady came up to us and said, "I have a family membership to the Gardens. And I will bring you in as my guests." All 4 of us. For free.
Yes, a parking spot in front of the Gardens and a perfect, free, fun fall day. Grace extended for this crabby family.
whatever is lovely
All kinds of samples to try and fun crafts to look at. The kids got to decorate pumpkins, have their hands painted, look at animals, pick out a teddy bear and take him to the "hospital". Bella and Mike hammered and nailed a little box for teddy. Lovely, beautiful day.
whatever is admirable
if anything is excellent or praiseworthy
PS. You'll note the brown she didn't like.
