It always bother me when people tell me they want a boy because, "girls are sooooo hard". Or, "Just wait until she's a teenager!" I was talking to someone recently who is expecting a little girl in November and she told me I am the first person to show enthusiasm that she is having a girl!
I am sure it can be difficult, and that will be painful, but I am not going to allow that to affect the 5+ wonderful years we have had with our little girl. And maybe if I am tempted to tell happy new parents to expect the worst, I will remember this post.
I know it's cheesy, but the Bruno Mars song always makes me tear up. The other day we heard the song on the radio and I said, "Bella, this song reminds me of you. Because I love you just the way you are." I looked back at her in her car seat and she was giving me a half-smile like, mom, don't ruin the song for me.
But later, when we returned she came up to me and said, "Mom, that song reminds me of you too. Because I love you so much."
Yah, I'll keep her.
Please note: I am head over heels in love with our little boy. I think he is amazing. And I wouldn't change too many things about him- I could do without the constant eating of things, like markers. Especially when I can't get him to eat dinner.

aww. :) this is sweet. you're a good mom. :)
Really, because most people I know feel bad or give that .. "maybe you'll have a girl next" to people with boys. (craziness). Kids are hard work but both are amazing! (i know you know that) Bella is SOOOO sweet, sounds like you are doing one good job with those kiddies!
Thanks Erin! Yah, I definitely also hear people ask those with boys if they will try for a girl (or the other way around). I also have people ask me if we are done because we have both a boy and a girl. This makes me sad for the little girl we don't have- like we wouldn't have wanted her. :( I feel like we got the perfect kids for us and that happens to be a boy and a girl. I'd like to think I would have felt the same no matter what!
I, too, am enjoying having both a boy and having a girl. One is certainly more challenging than the other at the moment (you know which!) but as crazy or cliche as it sounds, I love them just the same.
That is a sweet story about Bella and the song. :)
