70+ Words

They have an awesome program in Missouri called "Parents as Teachers". Every three months since we have been here Bella has been evaluated developmentally by our home visitor. She also tells me what to work on for the next visit, and gives me ideas of age appropriate homemade and store bought toys for Bella. It has been really helpful. At this visit (18 months) I was asked how many words Bella can say. I am horrible at estimating things like that. The categories were 6 or more, 30 or more, 50 or more... I had no idea, so I said at least 30. Well, of course I had to know for myself and so I started making a list today. She has over 70 words and phrases, and I am sure there are more. So unbelievable!
Her newest words are "thanks" and "potty" (yes, I am starting to THINK about potty training, just talking about it with her at this stage).
What she needs to work on: jumping with 2 feet and building a tower of 4 little blocks (she has no interest in practicing this)
